Jancis Robinson: commentaires enthousiastes sur Villebois Sauvignons Blancs

16 septembre 2011

Jancis Robinson has been writing about wine since 1975 and is responsible for some of the world’s most respected books on wine. She is wine correspondent of the Financial Times, the first non-trade Master of Wine and an OBE.

The Villebois wines have been reviewed by her with impressive results:

Villebois, Brut NV Crémant de Loire 15.5. Drink 2011-2012

Joost de Villebois. Very clean and fresh. Aged and really very clean – just slightly chewy. Nice clean packaging.

Villebois, Petit Villebois 2010 Vin de Pays du Val de Loire. 15. Drink 2011

Made by Joost De Villebois at La Chardoisie. Very light, dry nose. Pretty hard work but no excess sweetness. 12%

 Villebois Sauvignon Blanc 2010. 16. Drink 2011

From Joost De Villebois’ own vineyards, south of Blois on the banks of the Cher. Much more obviously expressive than the Petit Villebois. Really racy and lively. Good balance. GV . Appetising. Also sold in Benelux. 12%

Villebois 2010 Sancerre .15.5. Drink 2011

From three controlled vineyards. Open and regular and a bit galumphing – not the finesse and expression of the Sauvignon Blanc 12.5%

Villebois 2010 Pouilly-Fumé .16. Drink 2011-2012

From controlled vineyards. Firm, scented, much more convincing on the nose than the Sancerre. Juicy, green fruited, though quite open. 12.5%

Wine tour with the Naked Wines gang

Naked wines took a group of wine lovers to the Loire Valley to visit the Villebois wine estate who exclusively distribute their wines to the UK via Naked Wines.

Loire is a popular place for boating excursions as it has the longest river in France with a length of 1020 km, so one can flow through a pastoral countryside, past limestone cliffs and historic castles. Although the Loire is not generally the sunniest of places (except for whilst we were there – we had glorious sunshine), it is good enough to produce tasty wines. Villebois wines are appreciated not only in England and Ireland but also in the Netherlands. Brits typically like dry white wine versus the Dutch who prefer sweeter ones, according to the Villebois team. lire la suite »
